Tate Britain at the SW1 Gallery
10 July 2006
For one week in July, the SW1 Gallery and Tate Britain collaborated on a series of talks and events, which aimed to highlight the diversity of activities and exhibitions held at Tate Britain and encourage those who live and work close to the SW1 Gallery to visit the Tate. Each weekday a member of the Tate Britain staff gave a short talk on a painting from the collection which was followed by an event or activity for everyone to participate in, this included painting abstract paintings in the style of Howard Hodgkin which were then shown in the gallery, learning circus skills and painting clouds like Constable - which were taken away on a stick!
This collaboration was a great success and it is hoped that a similar week of events and talks will take place again next year.
