My Urban Space - 16 July 2008 - 24 July 2008

PAST EXHIBITION:  MY URBAN SPACE

A vibrant exhibition of artworks by over 100 young people in Westminster reflecting their views of the city. Featuring fashion, photography, sculpture, drawing and video, the show launches with a radical fashion show of designs made with recycled materials.

Several different projects came together to create the show:

Students from St Georges RC Secondary School and St Marylebone CE School worked with Berni Yates from Central St Martins School of Art as part of the University of the Arts youth outreach programme, 'Young at Art,' to create the costumes for the fashion show.

Photographer Owen Green worked with selected students from Westminster City School, St. Marylebone and St Georges Schools and Westminster College having them explore their local area through the medium of photography, by looking at familiar spaces in new ways.

Students from Burdett Coutts CE Primary School worked with artist Emily Allchurch to create vivid digital images incorporating their drawings, while St Matthews CE Primary school pupils created a vibrant miniature cityscape using cardboard and collage and film maker Adekunle Adigun worked on a digital video project with St Georges and St Marylebone students.
